Molly Callaghan (TY) has qualified for the national trials for the prestigious and competitive Irish World Schools Debating Team. The trials were held over zoom on Saturday, during which Molly debated motions such as ‘This House would abolish all juries’ and ‘This house would radically redistribute wealth’. She was one of eight students to progress to the finals of the regional trial, and debated the motion ‘This house regrets the narrative that good triumphs over evil in children’s movies’.
Molly is one of twelve senior students chosen to compete in the National trials for a spot on the team. They will take place over a weekend in October over zoom. The five students who make it onto the team will compete in the World Schools Debating Championships this summer which is set to take place in Macau. We wish her the best of luck!
