SciFest@Holy Child Killiney 2026 

This year SciFest is celebrating its 20th anniversary and HCK celebrates its 10th SciFest@School event. Sheila Porter, SciFest Founder and CEO, presented a SciFest Gold STEM School Award to HCK in recognition of the school having hosted 10 SciFest@School fairs. 

Well done to all our First Year students who participated in the event in Holy Child on Friday 17th of April 2026. 

Special congratulations to Jessica McLoughlin, Julia Gunning and Charlotte Barry who were awarded both First Prize and the Student Choice Award for their project entitled ‘The Physical and Mental impacts of Vaping’  

Congratulations also to Phoebe Malone, Miu Miu Lin and Claire Mehigan who achieved the  Runner Up Best Project Prize for their project ‘Colour Psychology’.   

Isla Corcoran, Olivia Zheng, and Thalia Egan were awarded the Second Runner Up Prize for their project called ‘How many books does the average person read?’.  

Alexa Keogh and Harper Newman won the Scifest 20th Anniversary Award for their project ‘Does ice melt faster in different types of liquids?’ 

The Keenova STEM Excellence Awrad was awarded to Caroline Byrne, Joni Coleman and Isabella Doherty for their project ‘ Do Stress-Toys work? 

Leah Marnane, Emma Dwyer and Edie Walsh won the Eirgrid Cleaner Climate environmental award. 

Lara Woods, Eva Duggan and Alexandra O’Brien won the prize for Best Communication.  

The prize for Best Project Display was awarded to Anna Desmond, Francesca McLoughlin, and Sorcha Igoe 

A special thank you to our judges Ms. Sheila Porter (SciFest Founder and CEO), Dr. Amalia Scannell (UCD), Tarynn Ohlsson (UCD) and Mr. David Doran. 

 It was a wonderful and inspiring SciFest@School event. Well done again to all involved.
