Transition to Secondary School

Supporting Your Daughter’s New Beginning

We understand that the move from primary to secondary school is a big milestone for students and families. At HCK, we are committed to making this transition as smooth, positive and welcoming as possible.

Rooted in, ‘Actions Not Words’,  we recognise the importance of ensuring care, connection and community from day one.

Transition to HCK

  •  Sports Induction Camp: An opportunity for new students to make friends, settle nerves and feel part of the school community before the term begins in a sociable, relaxed and active environment.

  • Campus Tours and Orientation with our 5th Year Angels:  Friendly senior students guide our First Years, offering a reassuring and familiar face. Angel Lunches and games are organised for new students to gather with others in a safe and supported space.

  • Encouraging extra-curricular activities:  Public Speaking & Debating, a range of Sports, Drama and lunchtime clubs … helping students build friendships and explore new interests.

Ongoing Care and Support

  • Regular support from our Student Support Team, Year Head, and Form Tutors, Guidance Counsellor, Chaplain and wider school staff.

  • A sense of belonging: Each student is welcomed into one of our four Houses, creating friendships across all year groups and fostering a strong sense of belonging.

  • Practical support with organising books, digital devices, lockers, timetables and managing homework — helping students navigate the logistics of secondary school.

At HCK, every student is known, valued and supported. We believe a positive start shapes a positive journey and we are here to walk alongside your daughter- every step of the way.
