Lenten Masses

Through the holy season of Lent, we had five uplifting Lenten Masses. Our overall theme this Lent was the butterfly which symbolised growth and change. At the end of the first Lenten Mass we were given butterfly badges to wear with pride.
The Masses were really well attended and we are so grateful for the many students who gathered each Wednesday to embrace our school ethos and build school spirit.

Over the weeks we celebrated Le Chéile Day, St Patrick’s Day, International Women’s Day and Student Leadership in the school, and we hope that these ceremonies have helped us live the message of Lent and prepare for the great festival of Easter. These Masses were carefully organised by Mrs Moiselle, who made every Mass special for all involved.

The Chapel was beautifully decorated with the colours of Lent, and each Mass had a different focus, such as displaying colourful shamrocks made by the students, or sharing the lovely prayer cards celebrating the special women in our lives. We had lovely Music from the Music students, and inspiring prayers and sermons from Fr Emmet and Fr Jim.

Having the opportunity to invite the important women in our lives to come to the Chapel and have tea and croissants afterwards in the Reading Room was a highlight for many students, for other students being commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers was very impactful, and other students really enjoyed celebrating Mass in Irish and English.

Our final Mass included the blessing of the incoming and outgoing Prefects. This was very uplifting for everyone as we celebrated the wonderful things our Senior leaders undertake in HCK.

We wish everyone a very happy Easter, and look forward to celebrating the Easter message of hope and joy in our lovely Chapel on our return.

Eleanor Reynolds, Chaplaincy Prefect
