Hockey

It has been a busy run up to the Christmas break for all of our hockey teams at HCK. The girls have shown fantastic commitment and engagement in all of our training sessions, and the teams and individuals are improving each week. We are looking forward to a break at Christmas but are excited for the matches and training sessions that are still to come this year. If we continue to work hard, we can end the season on a high across all teams and we are excited for the opportunity to get back onto the pitch again in January 2026!

1st Year ( Caroline Byrne + Elodie Robb )

Hockey these last few months in school have been very enjoyable. We have become closer with our friends since we began hockey at the start of is year. The teams have really improved thanks to our coaches, and the matches and trainings are always lots of fun. In our matches we have been playing well as a team. We are now looking forward to our first cup match after Christmas which we hope to get a good result, we have high hopes for this game and can't wait to improve with our team in the coming year.

 Minor 1 ( Laragh Coughlan )

Our Minor team this year is really coming together, and I think we’ve really improved over the past couple of weeks. We’re starting to work as a team, and we’ve been getting outcomes in the past few matches. We were really happy with our 4-3 win against Wesley on Monday and we won our first cup match 4-0 against Loreto on the Green. We are playing Andrew’s in the next round of cup, and I think we’ve had a really good chance of winning and we’re really looking forward to it.

Minor 2 ( Maia Martin )

Our hockey team won one of our league matches with a 3–0 win against St Columbus College. We also had a loss against Wesley College earlier in the season, but the team is working hard and showing good teamwork.

Minor 3 ( Zofia Smoczyc )

Our team is working really hard unfortunately the results have not gone our way, but we hope to win our next league matches after Christmas! We’re all looking forward to the rest of the season!

Junior 1 ( Annabelle Doody )

The junior 1s have had a tough start to the season but we still a lot to play for! Unfortunately, we got knocked out of the cup by Mt Anville. It was an extremely close match, and finished 1-0. We have played multiple league matches with some results more positive than others. On Wednesday we are headed to Kilkenny to play our next league match which we hope to win!

Junior 2 ( Julie Regan )

The junior 2s have had a great season. We’ve played really well as a team and have worked hard in every match and training. Overall it’s been a great season for them.

Junior 3 ( Hannah McClure )

Our team has had a great season this year. We have won 3 out of 4 league matches, putting us in second place in our pool. We recently had a 5:1 win against Rosemount and a loss against Muckross the following day. With two games remaining, we are hoping to keep this up and get out of our league pool to get a place in the knockouts.

 Senior 1 ( Julie Potter Cogan )

The senior 1s have continued to put in hard work and determination in the past few weeks leading to exciting and important wins in the league. In our cup quarter final against Wesely, despite going down 3-0 in the first half, the girls attempted a close comeback but unfortunately the game ended 3-2 Wesely. With all focus now on our last four league games we look forward to getting back into it after Christmas!!!

Senior 2 ( Emme Brennan )

Our Senior 2 hockey team has made great progress up to Christmas, showing steady improvement in every area of our game. We’ve had a mix of wins, losses, and draws in our leauge so far but each match has shown our growing confidence and teamwork. No matter the result, we’ve brought strong energy and determination onto the pitch. With the support and guidance of our coach, Sam, we’ve continued to build our skills and techniques. We’re excited to carry this momentum into the rest of the season.
