Geography Week 2025 โ A Celebration of Biomes! โ๏ธ๐ง๏ธ๐ด๐พ
Last week our school celebrated Geography Awareness Week, organised by the 5th Year Geography classes along with our Geography teachers, Ms.Quirke and Ms.McMackin. This yearโs theme was World Biomes! To help everyone learn more, different biome-themed videos were shown to each year group during Form Tutor time throughout the week. There were also Kahoots played during Geography classes.
Monday โ Biome Bingo
1st Year students kicked off the week with an exciting game of Biome Bingo. Participants received bingo sheets featuring questions about teachers who were wearing vegetation or animals from various biomes. Congratulations to our winners, scoring 10/14: Sally Griffith, Isabel Meehan, Clare Meehan, Julia Gunning and Jessica McLoughlin. Thank you to everyone (staff and students!) who joined in on the fun.
Tuesday โ Whole School Geography Quiz
On Tuesday, the 5th Year Geography students hosted a whole-school quiz in the Cornelia Connelly Hall at lunchtime. The quiz included creative rounds such as emoji questions, dingbats, and songs linked to geographical themes. The event was a great success and brought out plenty of competitive spirit!
Biome Symbol Hunt
Throughout the week, students searched the school for hidden biome symbols. Anyone who found one could bring it to a 5th Year Geography student at lunchtime to claim a small prize. The hunt kept the whole school engaged and eager to learn more about the worldโs different Biomes. Congratulations to Amelia Pedersen who found the most hidden symbols.
The Great Biome Bake Off
To finish the week on a sweet note, students were invited to take part in The Great Biome Bake Off, creating delicious treats inspired by any biome of their choice. The creativity and effort were incredible! Thank you to all who baked and shared their creations at lunch. A special congratulations to our overall winner, Robyn Summerbell. Second place went to Elodie Robb, Phoebe Malone, Millie Gillespie and Leah Marnane in 1st Year.
We really hope that you enjoyed the fun and activities for Geography Awareness Week and hopefully you learned a new fun fact or two!
