Cornelia House Day 2026

On the 15th of January, our school community gathered to celebrate the birthday of our foundress, Cornelia Connelly.

The day began with liturgy and prayer, which provided an opportunity to reflect on Cornelia’s life, values and the lasting impact she has on our school community. The date was particularly poignant as it marked her birthday.
Following this, we hosted a House Quiz, in which students worked with others in the Houses across the year groups- a great way for our new students to get to know others in their House communities. The quiz consisted of a variety of rounds, including questions on facts about Cornelia Connelly, common teacher phrases, as well as “Guess the Teacher” and “Guess the Celebrity”, which was great fun. Students from all houses participated enthusiastically, contributing to a positive and competitive atmosphere throughout.
The remainder of the day was spent taking part in a series of competitive games, which were enjoyed by all students. These included the ‘bottle flip’ challenge, limbless Oreo eating and feeding a partner ice cream while blindfolded! Participation was excellent across all year groups, and the activities encouraged teamwork, cooperation and school spirit.

Overall, the day was both enjoyable and meaningful, successfully bringing the school community together.

At the end of the celebrations, Hilary House was announced as the overall winner, making the day particularly memorable for its members.
