Holy Child SVP Christmas Appeal
This term the Holy Child SVP Conference Team have been very busy, meeting weekly and planning the Christmas Appeal which was a huge success. On Saturday, 6th December, our Conference members and friends, 32 students in total, arrived bright and early in Dun Laoghaire ready to buy presents for 18 families which classes had responsibility for.
We focused on buying educational gifts for each child, whilst adding some fun gifts and Christmas treats.
After two hours all the girls met back at Starbucks for a hot chocolate, ready to wrap the gifts and pack the family gift bags; our treasurer Sofia later took account of the receipts and expenditure. Thank you to Ms George and Mrs Moiselle for organising this special event.
Fourth Year students have also been a huge part of the SVP outreach. They have volunteered in two bag packs in Cornelscourt and assisted with local Appeal Leaflet deliveries in Shankill and Ballybrack. A huge thank you to Ms Cluskey for organising the rotas and ensuring everything went smoothly.
On Tuesday 9th December HCK had our Annual Christmas Hamper Day. With the wonderful generosity from our school community we packed 38 wonderful hampers for families in need this Christmas, stuffed to the brim with non perishable foodstuffs and special treats for Christmas.
Thank you again to the 4th and 5th Years who wrapped and packed the hampers.
On Friday the 12th Cora Rafter, Area President, and other members of the local SVP Conferences, Dan, Terry and David, came to HCK to pick up the hampers and gifts, delivering them to their families who appreciate the extra support at this time. On behalf of the SVP Team I would like to thank every member of the school community whose generosity made the Christmas Appeal so successful.
This term our Cornelia Connelly SVP Conference has continued to thrive, and we would like thank each one of the students who gave their time freely and joyfully to help make these events happen, giving their lunchtimes and free time to embody the spirit of Actions not Words and helping our local community.
Ellie Begley, Fifth Year,
Secretary, HCK SVP Conference.
