Our First House Day of the Year!

On the 15th of September, we had our very first House Day of the year, hosted by Madeleine House!

The day began with a beautiful Mass, which focused on our Cornelian characteristic for the year: Compassion. We were reminded of the importance of showing genuine compassion towards others, as you never truly know what someone may be going through behind closed doors. It was a lovely way to begin the day and set the tone for everything that followed.

After Mass, the whole school and our teachers made their way to the sports hall for a delicious picnic, kindly organised by the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and TY. There were plenty of tasty treats and baked goods to enjoy, making it the perfect opportunity for everyone to spend time together and bond with their houses.

Once the picnic was finished, everyone headed out to the hockey pitch for our first game: Pass the Parcel! After some very exciting rounds, our lucky winners walked away with some adorable house bunnies!

Next up was the Over and Under Relay, where the competition really started to heat up. Cornelia House took the win, giving them an early lead. We then moved on to the Hula Hoop Relay, which brought plenty of excitement, laughter and, of course, some serious competitive spirit! After a very close race, Hillary came out on top.

With everything hanging in the balance, it was time for the final challenge: Limbo! One girl from each year, from 1st to 6th Year, volunteered to represent both Cornelia and Hillary. The atmosphere was electric as everyone cheered on their house and encouraged the competitors to go lower and lower!

And then came the moment we had all been waiting for… the winner of our very first Holy Child House Day of the year was Cornelia House! 🎉

Congratulations to Cornelia House on a fantastic win, and a huge well done to Hillary House for coming in a very close second. It was a brilliant day filled with fun, teamwork, laughter and plenty of house spirit. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!
