As Principal of Holy Child Killiney it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. I hope your visit will give you some idea of life at Killiney and our aspirations for, and expectations of the students who make this school such a happy, open and stimulating community.
The school's mission statement states that we are committed to “academic challenge and the joy of learning” as espoused by the founder of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, Cornelia Connelly. (1809-1879)
We accept each student for who she is and encourage her to have the confidence to find her strengths and build on them. We endeavour to do this in an atmosphere of openness and trust. Students are challenged to set demanding targets and helped to find strategies to achieve them. They do this in co-operation with their highly committed teachers who aim to inspire a “love of learning”.
We want our students to become women of faith and reason, women who are confident and competent, caring and capable of making decisions and of enriching their own lives and the lives of others.
It is my job to work with the Trustees, the Board of Management, the parents, staff and students to ensure that these ideals are realized as fully as possible in our students and in the life of the school community as a whole.
We attract students from a wide constituency within the greater Dublin and Wicklow areas. We also have a number of international students. Friendships are forged here which are sustained well beyond school years and we are proud to welcome back many of our past students as parents of today.
I hope you will find this website both useful and interesting. We would be delighted to answer any questions you have and invite you to come and meet with us on our open evening or any other time that suits you.
