Our Fifth Annual May Music Recital was held on Sunday May 7th in Cornelia Connelly Hall. We were delighted to host a packed hall, filled with family members, friends and staff who were treated to a hugely enjoyable and uplifting afternoon of choral singing, alongside a wide range of solo and instrumental performances. Girls from First to Sixth Years shared their musical talents with us, and the Alumnae Choir performed for the first time at this annual event. The Prizewinning Junior choir opened the afternoon's programme; the Holy Child School Choir, recently awarded Second Place in the National Post-Primary/ Youth Choir Competition, concluded with a wonderful rendition of their winning songs, 'Cúnla' and 'The Water is Wide', which Ms Mc Donald dedicated to Mrs Hackett. Rachel O Hara, Music Prefect, and the Fifth Year Music students, provided us with details of each performance, finishing with a well deserved tribute and presentation to Ms McDonald.
We were then treated to Afternoon Tea organised by the Home Economics Department under the guidance of Ms Glynn. A delicious selection of scones, homemade cakes and biscuits were served from tables creatively festooned with the four House colours. Many people wandered out in the garden to enjoy the sunshine, and for photographs, and everyone really enjoyed every aspect of this really special event.
