Gaisce Hike

Congratulations to our TY students who completed their Gaisce ‘Outdoor Adventure’ hike around the Dublin and Wicklow Way, on Friday and Saturday. Every student in Transition Year takes part in the President’s Gaisce Award, and this Outdoor Adventure represents 25% of their challenge.

The students set off early in the sunshine on Friday morning, accompanied by three teachers and three volunteers from Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue. They completed a 19km hike on Friday, beginning at Ticknock Hill and arriving at Knockree Hostel in Wicklow, for a well-deserved rest. There, the girls prepared their own meals and enjoyed an interactive presentation by members of Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue.

On Saturday, the group completed a 7km hike around Maulin.

The girls will now focus their attention on the three remaining components of the award: ‘Physical Recreation’, ‘Community Involvement’ and ‘Personal Skill’.

Many thanks to Ms. McDevitt, Ms. Rodriguez and Ms. McGauran for accompanying the girls on the trip.

DEVELOPMENTBuilding Our Future The Campaign for Holy Child Killiney

We are building new STEM laboratories, a new Home Economics Suite and a new Art Room. In doing this we will be able to provide our students with the space, resources and confidence to thrive. Our estimated build date is July 2019. We need your help.
