The school had water supply today and should have some supply throughout the week.  Chemical toilets will be used as backup only.

The school has been without water for most of yesterday and today.  This is due to a significant leak in the distribution mains which has not as yet been located

by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council (See www.dlrcoco.ie).  

The result has been that all the school water tanks are now empty and we do not have toilet facilities for students and staff.  Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County

Council have advised us that they cannot guarantee when the water supply will return.  They have suggested that it may not return before next Tuesday.  

They have also informed us that emergency supplies (i.e. water tankers and fire brigades) will only be sent to hospitals and nursing homes.  Schools will not be

provided for.  We will be in direct contact with the County Council over the weekend but in the event that there is no water in the school on Monday morning

it will not be possible to admit the students. 

I propose to send a text message to all parents / guardians on Monday, 18th January before 7.00 a.m. indicating if the school is in a position to

open for some or all students.   

If we feel it is possible we may provide classes for 3rd and 6th Year students only.  I want to leave any decision concerning closures until as late as possible as

I am anxious to have the school running normally on Monday.  I am sure you will appreciate the difficulty of this situation and I hope that it will be resolved over

the course of the weekend.
