Cornelia Connelly Quote of the Week.

‘In the service of God nothing is little, and those things which appear trifling in our eyes are the very things God loves’. Cornelia Connelly.

This week’s quote from Cornelia Connelly is a positive reminder that even the smallest of actions to help others can go a long way. In these very encouraging words Cornelia explains to us the positive impact of every act of service and kindness.

We learn from Cornelia that we should always strive to be the best version of ourselves, and make a difference for good in the world. We should act in the face of injustice, we must speak out against inequality and discrimination. Alongside this we should be proactive in living sustainably at this time of environmental crisis.

Every day we have opportunities to do good - to greet our family with a positive ‘good morning’, to share a welcoming smile with someone, to help a classmate in some small way, to recycle our waste, to thank our parents and the staff.

These small acts of kindness, encouragement, compassion and empathy are so important, and really make a positive difference.

Our chosen Cornelian Characteristic this year is Joy. When we are welcoming, friendly and kind we are embracing this characteristic, and building a warm joyful atmosphere in HCK.

This week many First Year students begin their class roles of responsibility as Class Captains, Music Representatives, on the Social Action or Chaplaincy Team, as Library Representatives and many more. They join teams of girls from each year who are working together for the betterment of our school community. We hope that they are all blessed with the joy that comes from being a person of service.
